PBIS

What is PBIS?

PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Intervention Supports. Here at Jackson Road, we use PBIS to create a positive environment for all students to learn and grow in. The
Georgia Department of Education defines PBIS as an “evidence-based, data-driven framework proven to reduce disciplinary incidents, increase a school’s sense of safety
and support improved academic outcomes” (Ga DOE). It starts with having 3 clear expectations for students to follow with adjustments given in each school setting.
Students then have the opportunity to earn positive reinforcers when following those expectations. Depending on student needs they will receive tiered supports and are able
to move up or down according to their progress.
