It is my hopes that our children are excited about returning to school. I, Tiffiany Simmons, Jackson Road Elementary School's Counselor, will be providing services to students throughout the school year.
I received my Early Childhood, School Leadership, and School Counseling training from Albany State University in Albany, Georgia.
The elementary years are a time when students begin to develop their academic self-concept as well as their feelings of confidence and competence as learners. They are beginning to develop decision-making, communication and life skills, as well as character values. It is also a time when students develop and acquire attitudes toward school, self, peers, social groups and families.
As counselor, my job is to provide guidance and support for our students here at Jackson Road Elementary. Students will be provided with guidance lessons on character education: trust, responsibility, respect, fairness, caring and citizenship. Students will also be engaged in learning about what their place in the community is by focusing on careers to begin planning for their future. Beginning in September, there will be group counseling sessions offered designed to address specific concerns throughout the year. Students will also be provided with individual counseling if needed.
Please take advantage of the resources JRE’s Counseling Office has to offer. I look forward to working with you and helping in any way I can. If you have questions please do not hesitate to contact the Counseling Department at (770) 229-3717 ext. 115 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
